Women Weaving the Web
Friday, February 21st - 7:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Join us with Spiritual Midwife Sangoma Ol_udoye for an evening of healing relaxation. The Women’s Empowering Circle is a sacred space which allows women to come together and find a collective heartbeat. We ask each woman to bring a sacred part of her life to the circle in the form of family pictures, wedding rings, an ancestral memoir, feather, crystal or any object that represents her intention for transformation. Sangoma will share the healing teachings of women's cultural and spiritual history of circle work, each woman then in turn has the opportunity to lay the burdens of her heart open, revealing the weak or cracked places that have come to be healed, transformed and made stronger. This will be an opportunity to remove the masks we sometimes hide behind for emotional protection to see the reflections of truth in the mirrors of each other. This removes the sense of isolation that we may feel in our hunger for a trusting, loving community among our sisters.
Healing and the Power of Crystals - Saturday, February 22nd - 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Crystals hold the power to heal emotional wounds that have created dis-ease within our bodies. They also possess the power to connect us with our undiscovered possibilities fueling personal growth and realization. This class will provide information on essential stones and methods to utilize their innate powers. Through the information provided we will better understand how to release any stress or anxiety that may be creating a blockage in the spiritual or physical body disrupting the flow of positive energy.
Ancestral Veneration and Alter Erection - Saturday, February 22nd 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
This class is an interactive experience of creating and activating the altar/shrine of ancestral reconnection. As women revisit the roots, body and branches of their family tree we will activate the wisdom and power of the agreement between the living, dead and those waiting to be born. The strength of ancestral rituals and ceremonies lies in the conscious awareness as intelligence, and the infinite possibilities that lie dormant in our DNA. Ancestral veneration reconnects us to the gifts from our birth that feed and nurture the sustainable future for the emerging leadership of our children.
Vision Board Circle
Saturday, February 22nd 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
“Keeping Our Attention on Our Intentions”
The purpose of this class is to allow each woman to create a tool to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on one or more life goals. This communal circle encourages women to create the artwork of their dreams and desires to actively seek out images that represent their goals for the year ahead. During this class we will examine the elements of a vision board and assist one another in establishing focus for keeping our attention on our intentions. As this class is donation based we ask that you bring your board, old magazines you are willing to donate, and a pair of scissors.
Obi Divination -
Sunday, February 23rd - 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m
Divination plays a crucial role in the ancient Yorùbá traditional religion of Ifá Òrìsà. Casting the Oracle one can determine the wishes of their Orí, the Ancestors and the Òrìsà. One may also determine whether the prayers and offerings presented to the Divine forces are both heard and accepted. Finally, casting the Oracle allows the devotee to have a direct communication with the forces they serve, opening a way for one-on-one dialogue with Divinity. It is the birthright of everyone to have direct communication with their Orí and Ancestors. One does not need to ritually receive the Àṣẹ of the Ancestors or Orí before engaging in consultation.
However, one must be trained on how to properly cast the Oracle in order to perform even the most basic divination…”—Awodele Ifayemi,
New World Obì Divination
